Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Research, the Senior Director, Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) including the Contract Office (CO) provides pre-award and non-financial post award research administration service and support to all departments, schools, research centers and institutes at the Washington Square (WSQ) campus as well as all of NYU s global sites, including NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai.
OSP s philosophy, mission and decision making focuses on building partnerships across the University that provide effective and efficient infrastructure resulting in decreases in administrative burden for faculty so that we may collectively maximize the time researchers spend advancing research and discovery at New York University.
OSP s Senior Director will lead the OSP in collaborating with and supporting a wide range of departments, schools, administrative offices, staff and especially faculty on the development and submission of competitive proposals and the proactive management of grant and contract awards for basic, applied and experimental research, training and other sponsored activities funded by public and private not-for-profit sponsors including corporations, foundations and foreign organizations. She/he will support and mentor the OSP team by continuously evaluating core competencies, skill sets, and specialized needs and provide opportunities for continued professional development to ensure the office is properly staffed to meet campus wide needs for research and other sponsored activity.

Following are the core services and functions of the OSP and CO in pre-award and non-financial post award research administration at WSQ:
Required Education:Bachelor's degreePreferred Education:
Masters, or a combination of CRA and years of experience
Required Experience:Five or more years at senior professional level experience in a research university, Sponsored Projects Office or equivalent (at the level of Director or Associate Director). Broad knowledge of and experience with all aspects of research and sponsored project administration and the award life cycle, pre- through post award. Extensive knowledge of and ability to apply principles and regulatory framework of the Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations, and Single Audit.Preferred Experience:Ten or more years at a major research institution in a senior leadership role with oversight of an Office of Sponsored Programs or equivalent in addition to having spent five or more years as a decentralized grants management/departmental research administrator. Five years post award grants management experience. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of mandated regulations governing grants by federal, state, and private agencies required. Candidate must have experience or familiarity working with faculty and staff and have a very strong mission centric, customer service focus. Demonstrates pro active demeanor, takes initiative, and displays ability to work autonomously in completing an extensive portfolio of responsibilities. Ability to multi-task and work well in a demanding deadline-driven environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to follow up frequently and as needed. Strong analytical, solution driven skills and ability to problem solve complex issues. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diverse funding policies and guidelines for sponsored research programs offered through federal, private, foreign, and university sources. Demonstrated ability to remain up to date with constantly changing regulatory environment. Demonstrated working knowledge of all applicable computer software programs, including Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Research Administration systems. Ability to collaborate with multiple partners and navigate varying interests. Demonstrate project management and team management skills. Excellent supervisory, interpersonal, writing, editing and presentation/public speaking skills are required. Strong ability to initiate and engage with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, students and external sponsors to represent NYU s research enterprise in a positive manner.Additional Information
