Overview
Provides leadership and guidance to the department's team members to ensure success and to achieve desired outcomes in relation to verification/authorizations. Coordinates operations, procedures and best practices for verification/authorizations functions in order to support the revenue growth of the company. Develops strategies to optimize revenue generation and ensure compliance with third party payer requirements and applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
* Sets performance targets in all areas of insurance and provides direction and support in meeting performance targets consistent with the financial budget and organization's plans
* Provides leadership and guidance to the department team members
* Works with the department VP in developing processes and controls that are in compliance with regulatory requirements
* Provides daily, weekly or monthly analytical analysis as required
* Develops strategies to optimize revenue generation
* Works with the accounting and finance team to meet goals and objectives for the month, yearend close as well as financial and management reporting
* Consults and communicates with all members of the department and management on a regular basis to coordinate and address department progress in support of revenue growth
* Ensures all departmental goals are met, vendors are managed and work quality is achieved
* Ensures resolution of escalated problems/issues with operations, clinical services, employees within the department or payers
* Establishes, monitors and evaluates work productivity standards
* Provides effective communication skills to patient, family, branch staff, management and other health care professionals.
* Maintains a high level of confidentiality
* Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
* Adherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone's responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered. Report information systems security problems.
* Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, counsel and provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel, and works to facilitate individual and team development that drives positive results.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Licensing/Certification:
* Bachelor's degree - preferably in business, healthcare management or finance
Experience:
* Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management
Knowledge and Skills:
* Strong knowledge of medical terminology
* Strong understanding of various software systems applicable to the verification/authorizations functions
* Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relating to financials of a company
* Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend/implement solutions
* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to communicate with all levels of employees within an organization as well as communicate effectively with all external customers / vendors / health care providers
* Proven negotiation skills
* Strong written communication skills to include presentation skills
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Excellent ability to multi-task
* Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
