POSITION OVERVIEW
CareVet (CV) is seeking to hire a Director of Regional Operations to meet the demands of our rapid growth. The Director of Operations is responsible for supporting the operations, CV programs, and business functions of CV veterinary hospitals, within the region of responsibility. This role acts as a liaison between the CV Operations Leadership Team and the veterinary hospital. The successful candidate will maintain the exceptional relationships that have been built with hospital leadership and their teams, and extending that capability into new hospitals as they are acquired. Strong communication and relationship building skills are a must.The ability to lead varying personality types and cultivate leadership development within teams is essential.The Director will be responsible for spending extensive time in the field with hospital leadership and staff, which is critical for success. This individual will work directly with veterinary hospitals to improve processes and profitability, by identifying and implementing local growth initiatives using meaningful metric analysis.Company headquarters, St. Louis, Missouri.
We are seeking 4 Directors in each ofthe following areas to manage Regions:
St. Louis, MO, Chicago, Il, Dallas, TX and Cincinnati, OH
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
MBA or equivalent education or experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Strong business acumen
Understanding of and experience with continuous improvement strategies, planning, implementationand measures
Experience and skills in multi-site management, skill set for supporting teams in improving same-store growth and experience with individual and team development / education through individualized learning plans
Knowledge of practice management processes, efficiencies, standards, metrics and benchmarks.
Skilled in financial management, planning, prioritizing, and supervising.
Ability to function as apractice management consultant and provide direction for improvement.Leadership through service, commitment and compassion.
Must be self-directed and able to work independently.
Demonstrates sound judgment, good problem solving and decision-making ability and takes initiative.
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with medical, administrative, and support staff, while maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form, including presenting and training
Ability to meet deadlines and provide prompt attention to hospital staff.
Ability to travel a minimum of 50% -75% of the time within the Region.
Knowledge of veterinary practice management software, preferred.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Hospital Integration and Transition
Work with CV integration and transition personnel before and after acquisition of new hospitals to help facilitate seller and team relationships, buy-in and support moving forward establish the positive support relationship.
Work with CV COO to identify, develop and implement a 100 day plan immediately after close.
Work with COO to communicate and establish buy-in of local leadership team, doctors and managers of the 100 day plan prior to and immediately after close for smooth transition.

Hospital Operations
Acts as a collaborative liaison between hospitals and the CV Operations Leadership Team.
Acquires and maintains knowledge of organizational and local hospital policies and procedures.
Effectively leverages CV Support and processes for reporting and training.
Ensures proper staff scheduling/optimization.
Works in unison with CV Marketing team to develop local marketing plan for individual hospitals.
Integrates effective pricing strategies and updates standards in all hospitals.
Effectively communicates Inventory Management skills and processes educates on CV processes and opportunities with preferred partners, ordering processes, inventory control, pricing management and alternative medications options (generics) available through our vendors.
Analyzes and interprets operational reports and identifies areas for improvement. Aids local leadership in implementation of necessary changes.
Implements and champions CV and local hospital initiatives as a change manager.
Efficiently manages time, balancing the priorities of multiple hospitals.

Strategic Planning and Leadership
Collaborates with the hospital leadership to create an overall strategy and obtains buy-in and alignment with staff.
Creates action plans, sets and manage goals, delegate tasks, and track performance.
Works with the CV COO and local hospital leadership to develop strategic plans (i.e. positioning in local market).
Analyzes and improves systems, policies, and processes.
Plans, organizes, and leads development of community between individual hospitals and people thru on-line video, people introductions and technology applications.

Hospital Leader Development
Effectively trains new managers and provides ongoing development via check-ins.
Collaborates with CV Support and Integration teams in getting new hospital staff positioned in their role.
Mentors, coaches, and sets expectations with hospital leadership and staff.
Ensures hospital managers are trained in financial and operational systems and methods necessary to succeed in local leadership position.
Work hand in hand with the local hospital Medical Directors to elevate their leadership skill set, empower them to elevate the Standard of Medicine continually and support their doctors in a way that provides positive culture and growth.

Financial Management
Analyzes the financial health of hospitals and diagnoses financial issues using appropriate reports.
Assists with the preparation and communication of the annual budget.
Oversees the management of costs, particularly labor.
Manages revenue growth.
Continually monitors and metrics the items covered above in Hospital Operations section to ensure all things are optimized and running efficiently.

People Management
Manages the performance management cycle from interviewing and hiring to counseling and terminating staff, and assists hospital managers with personnel issues/problems in partnership with CV HR Leadership.
Ensures hospitals comply with all Federal and State human resource policies (I-9, DEA, OSHA, State Veterinary Board requirements).
Conducts Hospital Manager performance reviews and partners with COO to guide career development and Individualized Learning Plans (ILP).
Makes recommendations for staff training and development, mentoring, ILPs and culture changes.
Negotiates and mediates issues/conflicts; coaches and provides feedback to staff.

Client Relations
Develops, champions, and oversees client acquisition and retention initiatives.
Directs and oversees tactics for increasing new client visits.
Effectively assesses the quality of service and provides direction for enhancing quality.
Works with CV Marketing Department and local hospitals for in-person and on-line reputation, review management, on-line relationship development.
Works with local hospitals (while understanding legacy, culture and local leadership vision) to develop and ensure that the total patient and client experience is consistently achieved at each hospital.
