The Program Director is responsible for the overall management of the programmatic, administrative, financial, and operational systems related to the provision of care and services; provision of regular and timely reports to ORR regarding operations, services, and finances; establishing a respective and supportive workplace environment; elevating any issues or concerns to ORR.

Goal of our Sheltered Hearts Program

Our goal is to provide safe and timely reunification for a child and their family or suitable sponsor.

In partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, the Sheltered Hearts Program provides family reunification and short-term shelter for children who have entered the United States without a guardian. Children reside in our family-style cottage located on our 2,000-acre campus while our bilingual staff provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of UAC leadership team including assigning/directing work and ensuring ratios are met, conducting supervision and performance assessments, coordinating/conducting staff training and development, hiring and selection/conducts new hire orientation, making recommendations for personnel actions and managing a union environment.
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring time management including approving timecard, approving time off requests, completing weekly staff schedules, projecting overtime, and submitting reports.
  • Facilitates and participates in various meetings and committees including but not limited to team meetings, staff meetings, and core treatment team meetings.
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures; promotes and supports agency mission, vision and values including participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assumes responsibility to manage and reduce risk where it is seen in his or her area(s) of responsibility and to report it if it is outside of his or her area(s) of responsibility or assistance is needed to resolve the matter.Assures that health and safety risks are controlled or removed.Assumes full responsibility for all controls that youth have not yet exercised.Helps assure that the treatment and clinical needs of youth are addressed.
  • Assumes responsibility or assigns responsibility to a specific individual who is charged with monitoring progress and outcomes of the contract with ORR.
  • Implements contracts and monitors contractual obligations and compliance with contract requirements throughout the term of the contract.Initiates corrective action to assure that contract provisions are completed.Documents progress and outcomes of service contracts.Assures ongoing internal and external communication necessary to administer and complete the contract;

Job Requirements

  • Masters degree in social work or an equivalent degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science degree or bachelors degree plus 5 years experience in child welfare, and, 2 years of experience in program management or as director of a licensed child care program.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish
  • Must have a current, valid drivers license per Agency guidelines. Travel required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends and on-call, as needed.
  • Ability to work with economically and culturally diverse population.
